What is Geothermal?

Geothermal systems utilize the natural ground temperature in order to assist in heating and cooling your home or building.  These systems are not only environmentally friendly, but they are also energy efficient, safe, and quiet.

Keep reading below to find out exactly how these systems work and to also explore the many benefits they have to offer!

A Geothermal Heat Pump system uses the ground temperature in order to assist in the heating and cooling process.  A vertical loop is typically drilled deep into the ground and piping is then installed into these holes.  As liquid is pumped through this loop, it is therefore naturally cooled in the summer and heated in the winter.  This is accomplished by utilizing the temperature difference between the ground and the liquid as it passes through the piping loop.

Some benefits of Geothermal:

  • Environmentally Friendly
  • Energy Efficient
  • Cost Effective
  • Safe
  • Quiet
  • Flexible Applications
  • Reliable and Long Lasting

Tax Credits & Incentives

Federal Tax Credit

A 30% federal tax credit for residential ground source heat pump installations has been extended through December 31, 2032. The incentive will be lowered to 26% for systems that are installed in 2033 and 22% in 2034, so act quickly.

State, Local, & Utility Incentives

There are many State, Local, & Utility incentives available for Geothermal Installations. We will identify all available tax credits and incentives and also assist with the application process from beginning to end.

How Does it Work?

As the seasons change throughout the year, the outside air temperature varies as much as 100 degrees F.  The temperature can fluctuate from close to 100 degrees in the summer, down all the way to close to 0 degrees in the winter.  Even though the air temperature changes drastically, the earth’s temperature below ground stays relatively constant.  This fairly even and predictable temperature is what makes geothermal heating and cooling possible.

In other words, the geothermal systems we install and service use the earth’s temperature as its main energy source.  This energy is thereby used to heat and cool your home or building.

DID YOU KNOW THE EARTH’S TEMPERATURE BELOW

GROUND AVERAGES BETWEEN 55-70 DEGREES F ALL YEAR LONG!

 HEATING

Geothermal Loops get heated by the relatively warmer temperatures below ground.  They bring that warmth back into your home or building as liquid circulates through it.

AIR CONDITIONING

Geothermal Loops take the heat out of your home or building.  This warm liquid gets cooled by the relatively cooler ground temperatures as it circulates through the piping loop.
